Bottomline: All in all, the FHD2400 is a well-rounded display with a lot of excellent features and gorgeous image quality. You’ll find the unit easy to setup and calibrate, and its wide array of ports make it compatible with HD optical drives as well as PCs...
Good: A lot of connections including component and HDMI, plus four USB ports; screen coating smoothes out images; speaker bar option for built-in sound; pleasing aesthetic design.
Bad: Poor performance in key DisplayMate tests; backlight bleed through on dark scenes that you can clearly see under normal lighting conditions; optional speakers exhibited some distortion.
Bottomline: Although this 24-inch LCD delivers with an abundance of features and a sleek design, the Gateway FHD2400 stumbled in the labs. No single performance problem is a deal breaker, but there are enough of them to prevent a stronger recommendation.
Good: EZTune software; awesome soft menu, great contrast ratio and uniformity; multitude of inputs; Faroudja video processor.
Bad: Uneven color response, especially in dark areas.
Bottomline: If you couldnt calibrate this monitor so effectively and easily, we would be a little harder on it for its mediocre color response. But you can, and its loaded with features, so we love it....
