  • The Nikon AF-S 70-200 VR II is a very good zoom lens that delivers excellent sharpness wide open already, at least in the image center. Vignetting is very well controlled and CAs as well as distortion are typical for a lens in this class. LoCAs are ra...

  • Abstract:  Nikon has produced more than half a dozen high-speed, tele zooms since the early 1980s. The first with Vibration Reduction— the full-frame 70–200mm f/2.8 VR of 2003—was an instant classic, lauded for its high-speed autofocus, VR, and attractive styling...

  • Abstract:  ptically it is as good as anything you will buy from Nikon, with edge to edge sharpness and good contrast for all focal lengths. $2300 is a lot to pay for one lens, but this is the price you have to pay for one of the best Nikon zoom lenses ever made...

  • Abstract:  The AF-S Zoom NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II is a fantastic lens if you need to zoom in low light conditions. The lens is quite heavy and for the amateur photographer, possibly more than they want to spend on a camera lens. However, with a maximum aperture of 2.8, this lens is fast and does offer vibration reduction which is comparable to a four step increase in shutter speed.

  • Abstract:  There's little doubt that the lens represents some of the best optical engineering to date, and that the purchase of the lens represents an investment that's not likely to lose its value. For Nikon shooters, the 70-200mm lens has been the de facto pro...

  • Abstract:  On paper, both the Nikon D3s and Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII lens may seem like nothing more than minor upgrades to the previous models. However, in our testing we found the better high ISO performance of the D3s all the way to ISO 12,800 and improved..

  • Excellent corner-to-corner sharpness at all apertures.
  • Missing focus lock buttons on the lens; expensive.
  • There’s no doubt the AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II is one great lens — build quality is solid and sharpness is excellent. Nikon has addressed every little shortcoming of the previous model (which weren’t many) and made a lens that...
