The editors liked

  • Diverse
  • Entertaining tracklist
  • Wellcrafted turntable peripheral
  • Difficulty levels range from very welcoming to very challenging
  • Captures the thrill of creating a hot mix.
  • The music is good enough that I'd boot up the game just hear it
  • Some tracks let you play along with a guitar
  • Which is a nice bonus.
  • Great controller
  • Outstanding tracks
  • Simplistic design
  • Challenging and addictive
  • A shot in the arm for the music genre. Fundamentally different from Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Excellent soundtrack. Tons of unlockables.

The editors didn't like

  • Costs as much as two fullprice games
  • Crossfader tab can be tricky
  • Doesn't embrace creativity of actual mixing.
  • The controller and note charts need polish
  • The price tag might turn off some wouldbe DJ's.
  • Music certainly acquired taste
  • DLC prices feel steep
  • Extremely bare bones in the presentation department.

  • Abstract:  It wasn’t until the phenomenon that was the very first Guitar Hero that music games really became one of the driving forces of the gaming industry. The advent of Rock Band fleshed the genre out a bit more, adding vocals and drums, but there hasn’t been...
